Soraga is the first gateway to the Val di Fassa for those coming up the Avisio, and it takes its name from the stream: in Ladin it means “above the brook”. Here people speak Ladin brach, one of the tongues of Ladinia, and the tradition of carved wooden furniture survives in the workshops; in August the A pè ta mont festival brings it into the square. The village is documented from 1143.
The Dolomitissime office for Val di Fassa is on Stradon de Fascia, in Soraga: from here we follow the Trentino side of the Dolomites, where holiday homes are a real economy.
